Why do we grow strawberries?(2014) University of Minnesota, Department of Horticultural ScienceItem Dialed Up: The Economics of Sustainable Farming(2021) Paulson, ElleniThis podcast, called Dialed Up, is an assessment of the economics of sustainable farming. The podcast and associated materials assess two of the largest economic incentives driving farmers to adopt sustainable farming practices: crop insurance and carbon markets. These topics are explored across 9 episodes. The podcast, aimed for consumer audiences and those invested in sustainability and sourcing for CPG and food companies, provokes an in-depth analysis of one aspect of food systems and how that factor affects — and is affected by — the rest of the system. Understanding sustainability from an economic standpoint, and through both private organizations and government organizations (for both carbon markets and crop insurance providers) allows us to develop a more solid understanding of our food systems, and how together we can build more effective, inclusive, equitable and integrated food systems in the future.Item Digitization and Preservation of Milan's Film History(2006) Olson, MicheleItem Farming and Soil Carbon: A Partial Solution to the Global Warming Problem(2006) Bertelsen, SaraItem Finding Food in Farm Country: The Economics of Food & Farming in Southeast Minnesota(Institute for Social, Economic & Ecological Sustainability, 2001) Meter, Ken; Rosales, JonOur key finding is that the existing economic structures through which food products are bought and sold extract about $800 million from the region's economy each year. All this money, currently earned by Southeast Minnesota residents, is spent in ways that weaken the capacity of the region to build wealth for its citizens. This is a significant loss, an amount equivalent to ten percent of all household income earned by the region's 303,000 residents.Item Historic Murphy's Landing Program Evaluation(2006) Peterson, JamieItem HomeGrown: Sustainable Agriculture and Local Foods in Central Minnesota(2007) Stephenson, EmilyItem The Management Factor in Farming: An Evaluation and Summary of Research(Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station, 1968-03)Item A Method for Farm Planning Under Uncertain Weather Conditions with Application to Corn-Soybean Farming in Southern Minnesota(Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station, 1973) Boisvert, Richard N.; Jensen, Harald R.Item Milan Preservation Project(2006) Borgendale, ColleenItem Minnesota Rural Futures Survey Results.(2004) Barnett, Megan IleahItem Models and Strategies for a Produce Distribution Plan(2007) Yarbrough, NicoleItem Organic Control of Colorado Potato Beetles in Potato Production(2007) Becker, KatieItem Rural Women's Leadership in Minnesota: Present Status and the Need for Increased Involvement.(2004) Barnett, Megan IleahItem Starting Farming Today: Can It Be Done, What Does It Take(Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station, 1955-04) Pond, George A.; Swanson, H.W.; Cavert, W. L.STARTING FARMING was never easy. It is not easy today. Obtaining the capital to start farming and especially acquir ing ownership of a farm may seem to many a young couple today an almost unattainable goal. Perhaps such young people would do well to question their fathers or grandfathers or some elderly farmer in their neighborhood as to just how they got their start.Item Survey of Poultry Producers and Processors: Results and Technical Report.(Minnesota Center for Survey Research (MCSR), 2005) Minnesota Center for Survey Research
