Abstract
Raw data of fish passage rates and light measurements from high-intensity light avoidance tests of bighead carp, common carp and largemouth bass in a laboratory flume. This data is made available to support a open access publication submitted to Management of Biological Invasions entitled "High-intensity light blocks bighead carp passage in a laboratory flume".
Description
This submission includes data files related to a) light measurements and b) passage rate data obtained during experiments examining the response of fishes to light deterrents. The light measurement files include: 1) light mapping_coordinates.pdf which provides a visual representation of the experiment arena and location of light measurements and 2) light intensity measurements.txt which provides light meter (lux) measurements of light propagation in the flume when the 0Hz constant light deterrent was ON in the west side of the flume. The passage rate data files include: 1) raw passage rate data for bighead carp, common carp and largemouth bass exposed to different types of light deterrents; 2) all species_total passage rate data.txt file that sums the raw passage rate data obtained for each minute of the trial to directly compare total passages during the 6 minute pre-test (no light deterrent) and test (light deterrent ON) periods for each deterrent type; and 3) tl_tw_data.txt file that details information on fish used in the experiment. See the readme.txt file for a more in-depth description of the data files.
