Historical Note:

The materials of the Minnesota Women’s Center Historical Documents Collection span nearly five decades and represent three important phases of the organization’s history: its formative years (1960-69), the era of the Minnesota Plan for the Continuing Education of Women and its immediate outgrowth the Minnesota Planning Center for Women (1966); the evolution Minnesota Planning and Counseling Center for Women to the Minnesota Women’s Center (1971) and its role in the women’s movement of the 1970s and 1980s; and finally, the revival of the Minnesota Women’s Center under the Minnesota Plan II Student Initiative (1992) and its commitment to serving the diverse undergraduate population of the 1990s and beyond.
