The UMD Student Government Association is part of the UMD Shared Governance system.
Some minutes are missing.
From the 2020 Bylaws of the UMD Campus Governance: The UMD Student Association (UMDSA) [now UMD Student Government Association, UMDSGA] is the official voice of the student body. It has the responsibility to advocate student concerns, needs, desires and opinions across campus through the media, administration, and committees involved in policymaking. The UMDSA will advocate for the improvement of student life conditions; actively promote the goals of the University; organize and coordinate programs of co-curricular nature; promote better coordination of the rights and responsibilities of students to and between colleges, schools, departments, administrations, and the community; effectively reflect student opinion on all matters affecting students in their role as students; and cooperate effectively with faculty, administrators, and community in areas common to all as a university community.
Historical note: In March 2023, the UMD Student Association became the UMD Student Government Association, though meeting minutes continued to use the old name until October 2023.
Note: For more information about the UMD Student Government Association as a whole, see the Student Government Association collection.
