Abstract
There is a rapidly expanding body of research that attempts to rigorously test the improvements often claimed for implementation of Just-In-Time (JIT) systems that apply Kanbans to control multi-stage production processes. This paper reviews the literature regarding analytic and simulation studies of JIT systems that employ a dual-Kanban approach. Suggestions for future research on JIT with Kanbans are provided based on the gaps identified in the current literature.
