Abstract

This project was completed as part of a partnership between Carver County and the University of Minnesota’s Resilient Communities Project (http://www.rcp.umn.edu). The goal of this project was to identify more resilient types of turfgrass and other vegetation that can tolerate both long periods of drought and excessive water, and that can be incorporated into new residential and commercial-industrial developments in the county. Carver County project lead Tim Sundby collaborated with students in Professor Eric Watkins’ course, HORT 4061W: Turfgrass Management, to establish a turfgrass management framework, review the literature to identify suitable types of vegetation, and provide recommendations on vegetation varieties, irrigation, and demonstration plots. A final student report and presentation are available. A videorecording of the students' final presentation is also available at https://vimeo.com/492616434.
