Abstract

Average pea yields in the 2023 trial were good. Precipitation after May was low and we were in a drought most of the summer, but over 6 inches in early May and a sprinkle in late June seemed sufficient for our crop. The May rain flooded a small number of early-planted plots. Unlike 2021–2022, there were no nights with high temperatures above 70ºF. Giant ragweed pressure was very high in some parts of the field. In addition to hand-weeding, Basagran 5L (1.6 pt / ac) was spot-applied to both plantings prior to flowering.
