Abstract

A long-term reconstruction of water quality in Zippel Bay, Lake of the Woods, Minnesota.

Description

Cultural eutrophication has occurred, and associated anoxic periods in Zippel Bay are likely more frequent than “background” conditions. Sediment accumulation rates have increased in concord with eutrophication. Paleolimnology can provide strong support to TMDL programs, even for lotic systems.
The date (2006) is a guess, as there is no date on the poster; it may be as late as 2015. There may be additional information available in the Natural Resources Research Institute collection (http://hdl.handle.net/11299/183688).
