Abstract
The City of Fairmont in Southern Minnesota has used several different
strategies to reduce algae blooms in its five lakes (Amber, Hall, Budd,
Sisseton, and George Lakes). Among these are treatment with copper sulfate
and diversion and treatment of municipal sewage effluent. Since 1965,
the city has been pursuing a dredging program.
