Abstract

FYI is a monthly e-communication from the Institute on Community Integration. The January 2022 issue includes four feature stories, an ICI Facebook post, new publications, staff updates, and an alumni update. The first story features the new issue of Frontline Initiative, which shares stories by and for direct support professionals (DSPs) as they navigate longer hours, inadequate pay, grief stemming from the death of colleagues, and other fallout from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The second story features the role that past and present MNLEND fellows have played in bringing sensory-friendly vaccine clinics to children and families in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. The next story features the scholars from Europe, Australia, and central Asia who are visiting ICI to further the inclusion of people with disabilities around the globe. The fourth story is about an ICI national report on the living arrangements of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This month's alumni update is about a former MNLEND fellow who recently opened her second clinic to serve children with autism or related conditions from underprivileged communities.
