Abstract

It is the purpose of this study (1) to review the literature to determine what are the accepted criteria for evaluating an elementary science textbook, (2) to survey experienced elementary teachers to determine what they feel are the most important criteria to be used and their relative importance, and (3) to compile a score sheet to provide an objective means of evaluating elementary science textbooks.
