Dr. Liz Pluhar performs surgery to remove a brain tumor from a dog as Stephen Haines, a neurosurgeon from the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview, and Brian Rose, a third-year surgical resident, assist. The procedure was part of an experimental therapy that also included gene therapy and the administration of a vaccine created by John Ohlfest, director of the University’s translational neurosurgery gene therapy program.
