Abstract
This project was completed as part of the 2013-2014 Resilient Communities Project (rcp.umn.edu) partnership with the City of North St. Paul. The City of North St. Paul allocated additional funds to infrastructure improvements and development of a living streets policy. Project lead Paul Ammerman partnered with students in PH 6100: Topics in Environmental Health: Urban Ecosystems, to assess the public health impacts of a living streets plan as one way to increase public support for living streets initiatives in their neighborhoods. The students recommended that North St. Paul include rain gardens in the plan, enhance urban greenspace in the city, implement sidewalks, and endorse an active living approach to municipal redevelopment. The students' final report and presentation are available.
