Abstract

This project was completed as part of the 2016-2017 Resilient Communities Project (rcp.umn.edu) partnership with the City of Brooklyn Park. A priority identified in the Brooklyn Park Recreation and Parks Master Plan is to support health equity and active living strategies. The goal of this project was to support these initiatives by evaluating existing parks in the city to assess existing play structures and recreation opportunities, and evaluate the potential for adding nature-based recreation and play elements. City of Brooklyn Park project lead Brad Tullberg collaborated with five teams of students in Dr. Tony Brown’s REC 3281 course, each of which focused on parks in a particular geographic area of the city. The final report and presentation for the North Team are available.

Report and presentation completed by students enrolled in REC 3281: Research and Evaluation in Recreation, Park, and Leisure Studies, taught by Dr. Tony Brown in fall 2016.
