Rural Physicians Associate Program (RPAP) Patient Education Tools

The Rural Physician Associate Program is a 9-month elective during the third year of medical school. Students apply and are accepted and spend their time with preceptors in a primary care preceptors and specialists in rural communities across. Like their metro-area colleagues, student complete a course project which involves answering a clinical question generated during patient care in their settings. In addition to summarizing the research available to answer this clinical question, students also translate this medical language into a document suitable to inform an average patient on this topic – a Patient Education Tool (PET) handout.
