Item eWorkPlace Phase III Final Report(Center for Transportation Studies, University of Minnesota, 2019-02) Lari, Adeel; Elabbady, Mona; Valenti, AliciaAfter enjoying significant success in the first two phases of eWorkPlace, the goals of eWorkPlace Phase III were to recruit 1,000 new teleworkers and eliminate 900 peak-hour trips per day, using the 35W@94 project in particular as an opportunity to promote telework among local employers. This report summarizes the goals and outcomes of the two prior phases of eWorkPlace and provides a detailed overview of the goals, outcomes, successes, and challenges of eWorkPlace Phase III. This report also captures the efforts of the eWorkPlace team to promote and help implement telework through events, training, and online resources. Though results from the Commuter Calculator Tool do not indicate that Phase III achieved all of its goals, the eWorkPlace team expects that promotion and implementation of telework as a result of eWorkPlace extended far beyond what was captured through the calculator. Finally, this report summarizes lessons learned from Phase III of eWorkPlace for consideration in any future phases of the project.Item The Road to Prosperity: Engaging Ramsey for a Better Highway 10(Resilient Communities Project (RCP), University of Minnesota, 2017) Hartle, Ashley; Hofer, T.J.; Polacek, Joe; Schmeling, Alyssa; Valenti, Alicia; Wade, MichaelThis project was completed as part of the 2017-2018 Resilient Communities Project (rcp.umn.edu) partnership with the City of Ramsey. Ramsey is bisected by U.S. Highway 10, which is slated for significant upgrades in the next 20 years to convert the corridor to a limited-access highway. However, the uncertain timing of future Highway 10 improvements makes it difficult for landowners along the corridor to invest in or sell their property. The City wanted to clarify the future vision for the corridor and the timing of planned improvements, and sought assistance designing an outreach and engagement process to connect with stakeholders affected by the plan and future improvements. Students in Dr. Dan Milz’s Planning and Participation Processes class identified strategies to productively engage with the main groups of stakeholders concerned about the future of Highway 10: business owners, residents, and commuters. A final report and poster are available.Item Shared Mobility Policy Guide(2018-05) Bai, Shunhua; Biron, Holly; Nowak, Jacqueline; Valenti, Alicia; Kartheiser, ChristopherThis report examines he potential impacts of shared mobility in the seven County Twin Cities Metro area. Much of the content builds on a 2017 report from the Shared Use Mobility Center, the Shared Mobility Action Plan. While people define the term shared mobility in many different ways, this report will define shared mobility as transportation options where the cost is shared among users, people do not own personal vehicles, and services provide flexible, short-term, on-demand trips.Item Shared Mobility Policy Guide(2018-05) Kartheiser, Christopher G; Valenti, Alicia; Bai, Shunhua; Biron, Holly; Nowak, JacquelineItem Underrepresented Households in Ramsey and Post Occupancy Survey(Resilient Communities Project (RCP), University of Minnesota, 2017) Kratochwill, Austin; Jenson, Dominik; Rose, Katherine; Meghdari, Nima; Valenti, AliciaThis project was completed as part of the 2017-2018 Resilient Communities Project (rcp.umn.edu) partnership with the City of Ramsey. The City of Ramsey’s housing plan was last updated in 2008. The plan identified numerous strategies for achieving the City’s housing goals, including increased housing density, redeveloping underutilized land, and engaging underserved populations. Since then, the City has made some progress in terms of achieving its workforce and senior housing goals, but has room to improve in these and other areas. Students in Dr. Becky Yust's Housing and the Social Environment course conducted a post-occupancy evaluation to better understand the current conditions of low-income housing in Oak Terrace Estates, a manufactured home park on U.S. Highway 10; and investigated available housing opportunities and barriers in the community for several key demographic groups, including young adults, single parents, low-income residents, seniors, and renters. The students’ final presentations and reports are available.
