This review will discuss:the numerous ways trauma can affect biological and psychological (cognitive and emotional) responses to stress; how these alterations can induce behavioral changes that promote the development of mental health problems; and, how this information can be integrated into intervention strategies to help regulate stress responsivity in children experiencing trauma.
