Abstract

Description

The re-election of Barack Obama and Republican losses in congressional and state elections have prompted a vigorous debate among Republicans and conservatives about the Party's political strategies and policy positions moving forward. Should the Party change its message or "soften" its positions on immigration reform, the debt ceiling, and fiscal issues as a pragmatic step toward broadening its appeal among voters? Or, should the Party strengthen its principled commitments to liberty and minimal government because they will to earn the respect of voters and are necessary to protect the Constitution? Two influential figures in the Minnesota Republican Party will join a public forum to discuss the Party's future policy directions and political strategies -- Marianne Stebbins who was a state and national leader of Ron Paul's 2012 campaign and Cullen Sheehan who is an experienced Republican Party campaign and political strategist. The conversation will be moderated by Lawrence Jacobs.
