Abstract

Even though it has been proven that participating in physical activity and strength and balance activities can reduce fall rates, older adults are not engaging in these activities. This intervention combines a fall reducing strength and balance program with components of the Wellness Motivation Theory (WMT) social support, readiness, and self-regulation. After analyzing the post-intervention interviews, it was found that social support and self-regulation strategies had the largest impact increasing physical activity.
