Abstract

Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) in St Paul, MhUlesota intends to relocate the Empire Wastewater Treatment Plant outfall from the Vermillion River to a location on the shipping chalUlel in the Mississippi River, near the upstream end of Spring Lake (Figure 1.1). A study is being conducted to provide information on the mixing of the effluent with the flow of the Mississippi River, and to provide support for the siting and orientation of the outfall pipe. The results are based on an analysis using the HCORMIX expert system" for evaluation of mixing.
