Abstract

This project was completed as part of the 2016-2017 Resilient Communities Project (rcp.umn.edu) partnership with the City of Brooklyn Park. Brooklyn Park has a multitude of natural resources, but is growing rapidly. To ensure that the health of these resources is maintained as the city expands, students in Dr. Ken Gilbertson’s Sustainability Issues Investigation class examined several natural resource management plans, and adapted them to meet the needs of Brooklyn Park. The guide focuses on managing resources for social, ecological, and economic return and serves as a set of best practices. The report also serves to guide the City of Brooklyn Park as they revisit their plan in years to come. The students’ final report and presentation are available.
