Abstract

In my 5,200-word review essay "Charles Taylor's 2007 Book A Secular Age, and Walter J. Ong's Thought," I highlight certain works by Walter J. Ong (1912-2003; Ph.D. in English, Harvard University, 1955), Robert N. Bellah (1927-2013; Ph.D. in sociology and Far East languages, Harvard University, 1955), and Charles Taylor (born in 1931; D.Phil., Oxford University, 1961). In addition, I refer to Pope Francis from time to time -- and to a number of other authors and their works in passing.
