Abstract

A patient’s guide to allergic rhinitis and sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT). SLIT has been shown to offer progressively better relief of allergy symptoms and prevention of new sensitizations compared to daily oral allergy medications. SLIT is a more effective long-term treatment option for patients with persistent respiratory allergies than daily medication alone, and is a safe, although possibly less effective, alternative to allergy shots.
