Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2003-2009. As Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Badawi introduced the concept of Islam Hadhari to guide development efforts in Malaysia and the wider Islamic world. It is an approach that is compatible with modernity and yet firmly rooted in the noble values and injunctions of Islam. Islam Hadhari espouses ten fundamental principles which are accepted by Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
Tun Abdullah Badawi has remained committed to pursuing development, promoting progressive Islam and enhancing understanding between the Muslim and Western worlds. He is the founding patron for the World Islamic Economic Forum. Additionally, he is Chairman of the Malaysian Institute of Islamic Understanding, and Patron of the Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies in Kuala Lumpur which he established in 2009. Tun Abdullah Badawi holds several government and business advisory roles focused on developing Malaysia's regional growth corridors and Malaysia Airlines. Internationally, Tun Abdullah Badawi is the member of the InterAction Council, board member of BOAO Forum for Asia and World Muslims Foundation, and Chair of the Commonwealth Eminent Persons Group.
Imam Feisal Abdul Raufis the Founder of Cordoba Initiative, an independent, multi-faith, and multi-national project that works with state and non-state actors to improve Muslim-West relations. In this capacity, he provides innovative solutions to those areas where conflict between Islamic and Western communities undermines local and global security. In 1997, he founded the American Society for Muslim Advancement. He is a Trustee of the Islamic Center of New York and is a Vice Chair on the board of the Interfaith Center of New York.
Imam Feisal was born of Egyptian parentage and educated in England, Egypt, and Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Columbia University in New York and a Master of Science in Plasma Physics from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. He speaks English, Arabic, and Malay.
Robyne Robinson has over 20 years of experience as a television news anchor and reporter, both in the Twin Cities and around the country. She has received numerous honors, including the Upper Midwest Emmy for Best Anchor, the Minneapolis NAACP Industry award for Outstanding Contributions to Broadcasting, and awards from the Associated Press and the Minnesota Broadcasters' Association. Robyne is also a freelance writer, jewelry designer, and business owner.
