Abstract

Description

The 2014 legislative session is just around the corner, and the agenda is ambitious even as leaders talk about a shortened session. Governor Dayton is pressing for an "Unsession" and for rolling back some tax hikes passed last year. Legislative leaders seem eager to raise the state's minimum wage and pass a bonding bill. Advocates for roads, bridges, and transit are eager for new funding - as are other groups encouraged by Minnesota's expected budget surplus. Professor Larry Jacobs and former Speaker Steve Sviggum will moderate a lively panel, featuring Speaker Paul Thissen and Minority Leader Kurt Daudt, to review the prospects for these and other hot issues at the Capitol.
