Abstract

Bioreactors are a wall of organic filter material that remove nitrate from agricultural tile drainage water through microbial anaerobic respiration, removing it from our freshwater resources. Permeameters can be used to analyze the hydraulic capabilities of these media and optimize their performance, allowing less nitrates to contaminate freshwater sources.
