Description

Graduate students enrolled in Hort 6141 wrote a formal New Crop Grant Proposal on their New Crop for the floriculture market to propose sustainable, problem-solving classical breeding, physiology or molecular genetic research to The North Central Region SARE Graduate Student Grant Program (NCR-SARE; https://www.northcentralsare.org/Grants/Our-Grant-Programs/Graduate-Student- Grant-Program) for potential funding. The background information used in the species’ New Crop Grant Proposal serves as the basis for expansion of primary literature to address the specific objectives and experimentation to be proposed.</p> It is important to emphasize that these graduate student grants were never submitted to North Central Region SARE for funding consideration. Rather, these were written as an educational exercise in grant writing and their publication should not be viewed as unsuccessful efforts on the part of the authors (graduate students) nor for any graduate faculty advisors mentioned therein (the Hort 6141 instructor and/or Teaching Assistant, in this case). We offer these grant proposals as informational data on New Crop species as well as a learning tool for future graduate students and future faculty.
