Description
This literature review was conducted to expand Extension’s pool of BRE resources and gain contemporary insights into the field to update the BRE course for fall 2024 and beyond. As Extension is particularly knowledgeable about volunteer-led BRE models but has less experience with programs directed by practitioners and professional economic developers, a particular emphasis was placed on the latter to fill gaps in expertise. This paper provides a brief overview of the literature review methodology, discusses key findings from the research sorted by topic, and presents a concluding statement of main takeaways for practitioners and academics alike. At the end of the document, an appendix presents a list of helpful online resources available to BRE practitioners.
