Abstract

Description

From April through June 2023, non-licensees affiliated with the development of the Kernza® supply chain were consulted to guide thinking and direction for the formation of a consortium of non-licensed Kernza stakeholders. This cohort included researchers, organizational leaders, non-governmental organizations, government representatives, international contacts, attendees of KernzaCon, and other stakeholders. Participants provided their feedback through focus groups, interviews, and electronic surveys. Discovery activities support the need and desire to create non-licensee consortium, especially with the sunset of the KernzaCAP project. The proposed consortium would be affiliated with the Kernza Stewards Alliance and provide a coordinated, organized means to advocate and act on behalf of non-licensees in Kernza market development. This findings briefly distills and synthesizes insights and strategic questions shared by non-licensee participants in the Discovery process. The brief is designed to inform future planning and action related to future, formalized engagement of non-licensee stakeholders in the Kernza Stewards Alliance.
