Abstract
}diNNESOTA IS RICHLY ENDOWED with water resources.
Famed as the land of 10,000 lakes and the source of the Mississippi,
the state also possesses valuable ground-water reserves.
The most notable is the Jordan sandstone basin centered in the
ltfjnneapolis and St. Paul area. Virtually no surface waters flow
into the state. In common with a small minority of states (Colorado,
Wyoming, Wisconsin), Minnesota plays a major water supply
role for neighboring areas.
