Abstract
In this lesson, students will confront the historiographical challenges of creating narratives around the
1862 Dakota War. Students will use various perspectives from primary sources to create a
commemorative plaque of the events of the Dakota War of 1862 which best represents, honors, and
remembers the different groups involved in the conflict.
