Abstract

Evaluation of supportive housing through the voices of the residents. The three supportive housing sites in the study support individuals with mental health issues. The three sites are located in a Midwest metropolitan area. Qualitative research methods were used. The data collection instrument used was photovoice. Each participant was given a camera and asked to photograph what they liked or did not like about their housing and/or neighborhood. The researcher developed the photos and met with the participant. The participant shared their thoughts and feelings on the aspects of housing that they photographed. The research demonstrated that residents in supportive housing have strong opinions on their housing and neighborhoods and should be included in the development process for future supportive housing.
