Professor Abu El-Haj is an expert in the First Amendment and the right to peaceable assembly. Professor Abu El-Haj joins the podcast to discuss her recently published article with the Minnesota Law Review titled “How the Liberal First Amendment Under-Protects Democracy” which challenges the existing construction of the First Amendment and instead emphasizes its role as an underwriter of a republican form of government.
