Abstract
The Residential Information Systems Project (RISP) at the University of Minnesota maintains data on longterm
supports and services (LTSS) recipients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This
report describes the status and trends in publicly funded LTSS for the year ending June 30, 2019 (Fiscal Year
2019). This report includes all of the tables and figures including in typical annual reports but the text is
abbreviated. Other materials including FY 2019 state profiles, infographics, surveys and survey instructions,
and an interactive chart builder are available online at www.risp.umn.edu. Most historical RISP reports can
also be downloaded from the RISP website.

Description
Note on language: In earlier RISP products, we used the word "retardation" to refer to IDD. Historically, this was common language in the profession and broader society. Because of its broad and common use, outdated language may also appear in other RISP products. The "R-word," as we understand it now, is an ableist slur. Our previous language does not reflect the RISP team's ongoing commitment to social inclusion of people with IDD.
