Description
The Whittier Alliance has directed money into rehabilitating boarded up homes and wanted to know if there was any return in property value increases from these investments. Community members had several concerns related to housing--specifically, the ghettoization of vulnerable populations and concentration of social services in Whittier and other older, economically less-advantaged neighborhoods. Neighbors were also concerned about creating and preserving affordable housing and with improving the quality of housing without pricing people out of the market. To attain a better understanding of issues surrounding housing, MNIS worked with the Whittier Alliance to examine issues surrounding residential properties in the Whittier Neighborhood. The team focused its efforts on examining residential property values and the identifying potential influences on them.
