The United States' election system is under the microscope with concerns about Russian interference with state and local election offices and questions if such attacks could have affected the outcome. The November 2017 general election was the first large-scale election to be conducted in this environment...how did it go? Join Doug Chapin, director of the University of Minnesota's Certificate in Election Administration program, as he discusses the 2017 vote and what it means about the current state of election administration in America, including: The response to concerns about foreign interference and the federal designation of state and local voting systems as "critical infrastructure" New voting systems and approaches at the state and local level Discussions about how changes in elections - including expanded early voting and vote by mail - are driving both the conduct and cost of election administration Chapin will also take questions and offer a short overview of the Certificate program, which is currently enrolling practitioners and students for its courses for both the upcoming Spring and Fall 2018 semesters.
