Abstract
Description
The Mississippi River's watershed encompasses the middle two-fifths of the United States. Anything that fouls the environment in this area is proclaimed by changes in the river itself, so the river serves as an environmental barometer for the core of the nation. Collected here is a baseline of environmental data on the river in 1991. The data are collected in maps that give a picture of the current level of environmental quality, activities that affect the environment, and human ability to cope with environmental issues.
