Abstract
The main objective of this investigation is to assist Arimetco International, Inc. in their evaluation of establishing a non-ferrous mine in northeastern Minnesota. This portion of the report presents data compilation work done on the Babbitt and Serpentine
Cu-Ni deposits by the NRRI. The purpose was to put all available copper-nickel-sulfur assays,
precious metal assays, RQD (Rock Quality Designation) information, and down hole drill hole
survey data into a uniform digital format.
Description
The original report contained 7 3.5-inch HD floppy disks. These are numbered Diskette 1 through 7 in the report, which details the contents of each. The files on the diskettes were extracted in September 2019 and have been attached to this record (one zipped folder per disk). Since the software used to create those files (Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet) is old and difficult to find, staff converted the files to a more accessible format. All 25 .wk1 files were opened with Quattro Pro X9 software and converted to .csv files, retaining their original file names. Both versions of each file (.wk1 and .csv) are attached here. Please note that the file BABINVT.WK1 from Diskette 1 is called MMAXINVT.WK1 in the report; it contains the same data as described in the report. Also please note that when the BARRELS1.csv and BARRELS2.csv files from Diskette 1 are opened in Microsoft Excel 2016, some of the data in column G (Drum Number) is automatically and incorrectly converted to a date (day-month), where the "day" is the drum number and the "month" is the pallet number. To circumvent this issue, those .csv files were also saved - with the correct data in column G - as Microsoft Excel 2016 files (.xlsx) and attached, so they should open and display correctly. Finally, the SURFPREC.WK1 file from Diskette 7 contains a simple formula in column D (column C-column B) that was not converted to .csv, though the correct values were transferred; it was also opened in OpenOffice Calc 4.1.6, converted to Microsoft Excel 97-2003 (.xls), and then opened in Microsoft Excel 2016 and converted to .xlsx, retaining the formula along the way; the .wk1, .csv, and .xlsx versions are attached here. Thus there are a total of 53 files attached in the 7 diskette folders: 25 original .wk1 files, 25 .csv files, and 3 .xlsx files.
