Abstract
AMAAZE is an international collaboration between anthropologists, mathematicians, and computer scientists who aim to revolutionize the way archaeological artifacts are analyzed and reassembled. Within AMAAZE, there are 3 projects: geometric analysis for classification of bones, digitization of zooarchaeological analysis, and utilization of core sequences in the assessment of cultural transmission. This project revolved around using translations and gradient descent to reassemble bones. Due to the time constraint, only the 2D circumstance was explored. The integral for translations and rotations were derived, and the method of gradient descent to match the “bones” up had just begun to be used.
