Abstract

Description

Longfellow Community Council (LCC) had a list of volunteers who had signed up to distribute flyers in their neighborhood, which was expected to grow and change as more volunteers signed up and as some dropped off or move. LCC wanted to map their volunteers so that appropriate people could be identified to distribute flyers as neighborhood issues arose. An Access database was created to house LCC's volunteer data and to serve as a personal geodatabase for all of the data associated with the map. The parcels for Longfellow, Hiawatha, Cooper, and Howe were then added to the geodatabase. Finally, the volunteers' addresses were mapped, and the results of this geocoding process were also added to the geodatabase. The final map and geodatabase permanently link the database of addresses to the neighborhood map, which can be easily updated from within Access or ArcMap.
