Abstract

Experimental measurements were made to determine the effect of drag reducing polymer additives on the surface pressure fluctuations on smooth and rough surfaces in relative motion with water. Changes in surface pressure fluctuation intensity were found to be closely related to changes in surface shear when shear change was caused by the addition of drag reducing polymer, by a change in surface roughness, or by both of these.
