Description
For too long, discussions of race in the US have succumbed to "us versus them" pairings - improving the conditions of blacks comes at the cost of whites. This is a recipe for friction, resentment, and more frustrating years of stalemate. There is, however, a more hopeful direction - it will require healing for the black community and building a new white middle class that links its prosperity and future to sharing the country's economic growth and community revitalization.
