Description

Between February and May of 2012 Appetite for Change hosted eight events in its pilot Community Cooks program. Each event was two hours long and consisted of one hour of cooking and a one-hour facilitated dialogue on issues of food, health, and community. Each event was attended by between five and 20 families. The events were designed to be family-friendly and involved specific roles and spaces for youth, teens, and adults. The cooking stations were lead by AFC facilitators and volunteers. The dialogues were facilitated by trained AFC staff. Each event included a teen dialogue for participants between the ages of 14 and 18. The other two dialogue groups were for adult participants.
