Item Assessing the Annual Economic Impact of the Grand Rapids IRA Civic Center(University of Minnesota Tourism Center, 2015) Erkkila, Daniel L.; Qian, XinyiAs the city considers future upgrades to the IRA Civic Center, local leaders sought a better understanding of the economic contribution of the civic center to the surrounding community. To achieve this goal, Grand Rapids partnered with the University of Minnesota’s Tourism Center to assess the annual economic impact the IRA Civic Center has had on Itasca County. This report summarizes the project’s findings.Item Collaboration Across Borders, or Piiride-ülene Koostöö: Estonians and Americans Working Together Towards Accessible Archival Collections(Journal of Library Administration, 2019) Engseth, Ellen; Ramler, GristelA collaborative project to improve global description and thus discovery of library material is shared and analyzed after a decade of activity. The Immigration History Research Center Archives and the National Archives of Estonia work together to arrange and describe archival collections, utilizing the assets of the two different institutions. This project recognizes that the unique research material located in Minnesota holds importance to patrons in many countries, are a result of cultural and informational migration, and that access to this multilingual source material relies on robust description. The article provides the project’s context, and describes its administration.Item Internal Capacity Building for Health, Resilience and Racial Equity in Ramsey County(Resilient Communities Project (RCP), University of Minnesota, 2023) Luo, Abigail; Sepehr, Sara; Stamp, Shannon; Tryggestad, AndreaThis project was completed as part of a partnership between Ramsey County and the University of Minnesota’s Resilient Communities Project (https://rcp.umn.edu/). The goal of this project was to identify County employee staffing and training needs, and develop appropriate training resources to better promote health, resilience, and racial equity in County efforts to prepare for and address climate change impacts. Ramsey County project lead Abigail Phillips collaborated with a team of students in Dr. Stacy Doepner-Hove’s course HRIR 6801 to convert the County's existing climate action framework to a user-friendly Excel spreadsheet that can be used to track goals and progress, identify existing and additional staff capacity needed to achieve the goals in the framework, develop job descriptions for proposed new staff positions, explore Ramsey County's organizational structure and how existing and proposed new positions relate to each other, and develop a case to leadership within the County for the staffing and other recommendations included in the report. A final student report, PowerPoint presentation slides, and final framework Excel spreadsheet from the project are available.
