Item Energy Conservation for Homeowners: An Action Program for the City of Saint Paul.(1980) Rudelius, William; Weijo, RichardItem Low-Income Energy Efficiency Programs for Connexus Energy(2023-05) Komoroski, Sarah E; Hetchler, Cory J; McKenzie, Conor C; Knetsch, Carl HThis report explores Connexus Energy's low-income spending requirement as part of Minnesota's Conservation Improvement Program (CIP). The paper reviews the current landscape of Connexus’ low-income programs and offers recommendations to increase direct spending, energy savings, and program participation. Our research consisted of a mix of general literature review, demographic data analysis, creation of spatial maps, and direct interviews with Connexus’ partners and other relevant organizations. We emphasize the importance of dedicated low-income programs in overcoming the barriers that prevent low-income households from engaging in energy efficiency programs. The report focuses on single-family households, which constitute the majority of homes in Connexus' service territory. We recommend Connexus pursue a comprehensive home energy audit program, build more robust relationships with Community Action Agencies, and raise the visibility of all their low-income programs. By implementing these recommendations, Connexus can meet their low-income spending requirement while improving the quality of life for their most vulnerable members.Item Marketing Energy Conservation to Homeowners: An Action Program From Public Policy Research.(1982) Rudelius, William; Dodge, Gary; Weijo, RichardItem The Sustainable Energy Solutions Guide for Minnesota Resorts(University of Minnesota Tourism Center, 2008) Schuweiler, AndreaThe Sustainable Energy Solutions Guide for Minnesota Resorts is directed specifically towards Minnesota resorts. While there are a variety of information sources available for energy conservation, this is the first that provides specific information tailored towards a market such as Minnesota resort tourism. Minnesota’s approximately 900 resorts vary in size and provide a variety of accommodations and recreational opportunities. However, they are similar in that they usually provide nature-based recreational opportunities, especially boating and fishing, are located in secluded areas, feature cabin-like accommodations and are not open during the winter.Item Water Quality Business Owner Survey(Resilient Communities Project (RCP), University of Minnesota, 2012) Students enrolled in COMM 5110This project was completed as part of the 2012-2013 Resilient Communities Project (rcp.umn.edu) partnership with the City of Minnetonka. Many businesses and industries in Minnetonka use large amounts of water and energy as part of their operations. The purpose of this project was to develop education and outreach strategies to help businesses in the community conserve water and energy and protect surface water through their operations and site management. Minnetonka projects lead and natural resources manager Jo Colleran collaborated with students in COMM 5110 to employ ethnographic and survey methods to understand barriers and opportunities Minnetonka businesses face with respect to water and energy conservation. The students' final report is available.
