This particular map was created using Esri ArcMap and the map extent was selected from the SCAR International Map of the World. This map will eventually be used by individuals working in Antarctica to help them in their air operations. As the map states, the size of the printed map document is 28” x 24”.Item American Interprofessional Health Collaborative: Historical Roots and Organizational Beginnings(University of Minnesota, 2010-09) University of Minnesota. This change in sponsored research is best exemplified by the National Science Foundation (NSF) which in 2010 announced that all grants submitted after January 18th, 2011 must include a one- to two-page DMP with all new proposals. In order to review the plans for how University of Minnesota researchers plan to manage, store, describe, protect, and share and preserve their data, a review instrument was created and implemented by the University Libraries in the summer of 2014. Our local study of DMPs in successful NSF grant applications from January 2011 - June 2014 was opt-in by U of M PIs and the libraries collected 182 data management plans for our study, accounting for 41% of the total number of plans solicited. The deidentified data used in our analysis and our survey instrument are presented here.Item Associate Deans of Education Council Retreat Summary(University of Minnesota, 2006-06-30) Growthworks, Inc.; McDermott, Brian; Sexton, GerryItem Becoming a University of Promise(2001) Bruininks, RobertItem Being Better Relatives: How the University of Minnesota could transform its relationships with American Indians(2021-05) Paynter, LauraThe University of Minnesota (University) has strained relationships with American Indians due to harmful actions, starting with the founding of the University and continuing to the present. This paper examines these issues and presents a strategic framework based on the University’s Mission Statement to support the building and nurturing of better relationships. A key impetus for change is the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council Resolution of June 2020, which requests a number of actions from the University that are important to repairing the relationships. This paper analyzes these requests, and finds they generally align with the guiding principles of the Mission Statement and MPact 2025, the University’s Systemwide Strategic Plan. However, the University system is large and complex, and includes pockets of ignorance of American Indians, which pose significant barriers to effective and lasting organizational transformation. The paper reviews the history of the University’s relationships with American Indians, settler colonialism, and how other universities and the State of Minnesota are working to improve relationships with Indigenous peoples. Reviewing strategic management literature about organizational transformation provides further analysis to understand how to enact cultural change. The paper concludes with recommended actions, linking them to the MIAC Resolution and MPact 2025, the University’s Systemwide Strategic Plan.Item The Bell Museum: a significant modern building.(2011-02) Friendshuh, Johanna R.This thesis researches the possibilities of adaptive reuse of the Bell Museum, by first using the criteria provided by the National Register of Historic Places to determine if the building is fit for local and national designation and second, documenting the building’s energy efficiencies and water usage for further study and providing some design solutions and third, discussing how the current space can be reprogrammed to be more efficient and effective for either the museum or another program. This research is done through written and visual documentation. KEY WORDS: James F.
