Item Frank M. Oppenheim's Loyalty to Josiah Royce(This version has not been published previously., 2023-08) Farrell, ThomasIn my 3,800-word review essay "Frank M. Oppenheim's Loyalty to Josiah Royce," I highlight the 1987 book by the late American Jesuit philosopher and theologian and Royce specialist Frank M. Oppenheim (1925-2020; Ph.D. in Philosophy, Saint Louis University, 1962) titled Royce's Mature Philosophy of Religion (University of Notre Dame Press). Harvard's prolific philosopher Josiah Royce (1855-1916; Ph.D. in philosophy, Johns Hopkins University, 1878) developed his mature philosophy of religion in his 1912 book The Sources of Religious Insight (C. Scribner's Sons) and in his 1913 book The Problem of Christianity (Macmillan). In those two books, Royce also developed his mature philosophy of loyalty. So I also highlight those two books by Royce.
