Item Annual Student Exhibition (2020)(2020) University of Minnesota Duluth. Department of Art and DesignThe Department of Art & Design at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites the public to our “virtual” Annual Student Exhibition (ASE). This Annual Student Exhibition is a juried show of work executed by students who took classes in the Department of Art & Design. This year’s jurors are graphic designer, Abby Haddican, and ceramist, Kimberlee Joy Roth. The virtual website was designed and created by students currently enrolled in Professor Jennifer Gordon's Graphic Design classes. The Annual Student Exhibition "Look Both Ways," features over 80 works of art from a range of media including: animation, ceramics, digital art, drawing, graphic design, motion graphics, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and video. This year's exhibition looks back at the history of ASE, giving viewers a look at what's been done in the past, and what's currently happening. Join us in celebrating the work of our students by visiting the virtual exhibition!Item Annual Student Exhibition: Layers (2022)(2022) University of Minnesota Duluth. This accounts for 10% of the total U.S. population (“Status and trends” 2019). Marketing to college students proves to be a challenge at times. Students are not as easily persuaded by advertisements as other demographics are. (Coray, 2020). Marketers face the problem of finding ways to persuade these consumers to purchase their products or services. One of the main ways that consumers are influenced by marketing is through the colors in logos and packaging. Most people, whether they know it or not, have preconceived ideas in their minds of what the different colors represent to them. Although each person has different color associations unique to them, they tend to be consistent between people overall. Marketers must figure out how to use these color associations to form a brand identity for the product or service they are trying to sell. In doing so, they have the ability to persuade consumer decision making. This study was designed to determine how college students perceive each color, and how their color perceptions affect their decision making. The results will be used to determine how to use color to market products or services to college aged Americans.Item Experiencing Italy: Art & Art History: Reflections on our May Term 2022 Adventures (2022-11-07)(2022) Hunt, Betsy; Webb, Jennifer; University of Minnesota Duluth. A Case Study of Zero-Net Energy Housing in Northern Minnesota(2022) Carlson, Sam; Wagner, Rachel; Korpi, Jonna; Caswell, Deja; Karmaker, Leah; Snow, MadelineGreenhouse gas emissions, the most prevalent being CO2, methane, and nitrous oxide are collecting in the atmosphere and impacting all organisms that reside on this planet. We have the resources, knowledge, and technology to reduce these emissions, thereby slowing, stopping, and even reversing the negative impacts if we move quickly and make the big investments needed to make a difference. Each sector can make significant contributions to reducing emissions and this paper models the energy, financial, and CO2 savings of a net-zero residential home design in a very cold climate (northern Minnesota, USA) compared with the same design built to current Minnesota Residential Energy Code minimums. Results of the modeling and next steps are discussed.Item Lucia in Flight (2014-02-15)(2014) University of Minnesota Duluth. Department of Music; University of Minnesota Duluth.
