Item Comparison of Resistance to Sliding Between Metal Lined Ceramic Brackets and Unlined Ceramic Brackets: An In Vitro Study(2018-07) Ditch, DustinObjective: Comparing resistance to sliding (RS) between esthetic brackets under an increasing applied moment. Materials and Methods: Three different brackets were mounted on a testing apparatus to simulate canine retraction using sliding mechanics and application of a moment on 0.019”x0.025” nickel-titanium and stainless steel archwires. The samples examined were: ClarityTM Advanced, and ClarityTM metal-reinforced, and VictoryTM series brackets. The RS at calculated moments of 1000 g-mm, 2000 g-mm, and 3000 g-mm was determined and compared between the various brackets. Descriptive measures and one-way analysis of variance were used to calculate means and statistical differences among the bracket types. Results: No significant difference in RS between the brackets was found on nickel-titanium arch wires. The ClarityTM Advanced bracket had significantly greater (P < 0.05) RS than the other brackets tested at all three calculated moments on stainless steel archwires. Conclusion: ClarityTM Advanced brackets had significantly higher RS on stainless steel archwires.
