Item A Bibliography of Published Research in Minnesota Related to the State’s Mineral Potential: April 2020(University of Minnesota Duluth, 2020-04) Hudak, George JThe United States Geological Survey (USGS) provided funding via the FY 2019 National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) for the project “Updated Minnesota Data Inventory: Preservation of Pillsbury Hall Rock Collections with Associated Additional Documentation: Assembly of Mineral Potential Related Information.” The three priority components of this project were as follows: • Priority 1: Collection Inventory and metadata record revision in the National Digital Catalog; • Priority 2: Preservation of Pillsbury Hall Rock collections with associated and additional documentation; and • Priority 3: Assemble information that supports identification of critical mineral resources in Minnesota. As part of Priority 3, the Natural Resources Research Institute (NRRI) was subcontracted by the Minnesota Geological Survey to prepare a bibliography briefly describing published research specific to Minnesota that supports inference of mineral potential on the basis of geological mapping, and a bibliography listing references for published literature on this topic. The NRRI provided matching funding to complete this work from the NRRI University of Minnesota Permanent University Trust Fund. The USGS has recently developed a new minerals system approach for critical minerals inventory, research and assessment (https://www.usgs.gov/energy-and-minerals/mineral-resourcesprogram/ science/systems-approach-critical-minerals-inventory?qt-science_center_objects=0#qtscience_ center_objects; Hostra, 2019). The following bibliography is organized utilizing this minerals system classification scheme. As Minnesota has a preserved geologic history that spans greater than 3.6 billion years, and as a wide variety of geological processes have been active over this geological history, mineral potential exists in many of the mineral systems, including Chemical Weathering, Placer, Meteoric Recharge, Marine Chemocline, Volcanogenic Seafloor, Orogenic, Metamorphic, IOA-IOCG, and Mafic Magmatic. As well, a short bibliography of potential By-Products/Recycling resources has been included with this bibliography.Item A Holmes and Doyle Bibliography, Volume 10: All Formats—Combined Subject Listing(High Coffee Press, 2018) Johnson, Timothy JThis bibliography is a work in progress. It attempts to update Ronald B. De Waal’s comprehensive bibliography, The Universal Sherlock Holmes, but does not claim to be exhaustive in content. New works are continually discovered and added to this bibliography. Readers and researchers are invited to suggest additional content. This volume contains all subject listings in all formats, arranged alphabetically by subject heading (according to De Waal's categories). In other words, it combines the listings from Volume 2 (Monograph and Serial Titles), Volume 6 (Periodical Articles), and Volume 8 (Audio/Visual Materials) into a comprehensive subject bibliography. (There may be additional materials included in this list, e.g. duplicate items and items not yet fully edited.) As in the other volumes, coverage of this material begins around 1994, the final year covered by De Waal's bibliography, but may not yet be totally up-to-date (given the ongoing nature of this bibliography). It is hoped that other titles will be added at a later date.Item A Holmes and Doyle Bibliography, Volume 1: Monographs and Serials by Main Entry(High Coffee Press, 2018) Johnson, Timothy JThis bibliography is a work in progress. Selected Bibliography of Cuyuna Range Geology, Mining and Metallurgy(Minnesota Geological Survey, 1977) Beltrame, R.J.This work is an extension of a bibliography prepared by the author as part of a final report submitted to the U.S. Bureau of Mines for grant # G026/t002 entitled "Manganese-bearing ores of the Cuyuna iron range, east-central Minnesota, Phase 1". This bibliography, though directed primarily towards the geologic and mining literature of the Cuyuna range, does include the major works on the metallurgical aspects of the Cuyuna ores. For historical interest the very earliest publications are included. This list of abbreviations given on pages 2-4 are consistent with those from the "Bibliography and Index of Geology".Item Technologies in Context: A Bibliography and Index to the works of David E. Nye(2021-05) Nye, David E.David E. Nye received the Leonardo da Vinci Medal in 2005 for his life's work from the Society for the History of Technology, and his other awards include a knighthood by the Queen in Denmark. His writings focus on technology in American culture. This index covers 14 books, 38 journal articles, and 63 book contributions, or roughly 5,500 pages, published between 1974 and May 2021. The bibliography also includes: 8 edited scholarly books (c. 2,000 pages), 7 textbooks (c. 1,200 pages), 6 translations into other languages, 8 encyclopedia articles, 66 book reviews, teaching materials, interviews, minor works that are difficult to obtain, and non-academic writings. The bibliography provides more details and better organization than one can get from search engines such as Google, which often present misleading or incomplete references and point to only one or two publications, and not necessarily the most important ones on a topic. The index is far more complete. It lists more than 30 sub-headings under automobile, pollution, or tourism, and more than 50 under city, General Electric, photography, railroad, or technology. There are also headings for theoretical topics such as aesthetics, determinism, landscape, narrative, nature, second creation, social construction of reality, space, technological momentum, and unintended consequences.
